How do I Sign Up for a Ladder?

How do I Sign Up for a Ladder?

  1. Go to the Ladders page in The Arena, and find a Ladder you can participate in.
    • Some Ladders have Fees (Gold, Tokens, etc) and some have Requirements (Level, Path, etc).
  2. Click on the "Sign Up" button.

What happens when I Sign Up for a Ladder?

What happens when I Sign Up for a Ladder?

  1. You are set as Active in that Ladder. You are now available for Challenges with other Active Avatars in that Ladder.
  2. To begin, you are given a Rating of 1500.

What happens if I no longer meet the Ladder Requirements (Level Up, Respec, etc)?

Unlike a Tournament, it is possible to Level Up while in a Ladder. However, if you no longer meet the requirements for a Ladder, then you won't be allowed to respond to any Challenges for that Ladder. At the end of the week when Ladder Rankings are calculated you will be removed from the Ladder.

What's the difference between a Rating and a Ranking?

What's the difference between a Rating and a Ranking?

An Avatar's Ranking is only calculated periodically (usually weekly). An Avatar's Rating will change with every fight.

How is Rating determined after each fight?

Rating is determined using the Elo rating system. This is a system from Chess that a lot of online games use.

What does being Active/Inactive in a Ladder mean?

Think of Active and Inactive as a switch that tells the Ladder about your involvement in that Ladder. If you're not going to play for awhile, then you should really set yourself as Inactive in all of your Ladders.
You MUST be Active in a Ladder to be eligible to receive Challenges for that Ladder.

If everyone above my Rating is Inactive, then is it still possible for my Rating to increase?

Yes. Your Rating will increase even if you win against Avatars with lower Ratings than yours.

Is there a Time Limit on when Ladder Challenges can be responded to?

Is there a Time Limit on when Ladder Challenges can be responded to?

Yes. Each Ladder Challenge expires 24 hours from when it was issued. This expiration date shows in the Challenges page. When a Challenge expires and at least one Avatar has responded to it, then the Avatar who didn't respond forfeits and Ratings change as if they lost. If neither Avatar has responded, then the Challenge just goes away and neither Avatar gains or loses Rating.

Why can't I Reject Ladder Challenges?

It's not possible to Reject a Ladder Challenge because the concept of Ladder revolves around the idea that you don't get to choose who you fight. Even though the Ladder chooses your opponents, if you were allowed to reject those opponents you would then have the ability to choose who you fight. If you want control over who you fight, the Ladders are not for you (and there's nothing wrong with that).

When are Rankings calculated?

The Rankings for each Ladder are calculated once a week on Thursday nights.

How many Ladder Duels do I need to get a Ranking?

It only takes 10 Duels to get a Ranking in a Ladder for that week. After those 10 you can go Inactive and keep the Rating you have, or you can stay Active and try to increase your Rating. Remember, other Avatars can get a higher Rating than yours and lower your possible Ranking.

What Rewards are given for Ladders?

When Rankings are calculated each week, all Ranked Avatars will receive a quantity of Tokens related to their Rating amount.
